Josep Foraster is a family winery located in Montblanc inside D.O. Conca de Barbera; where we cultivate our own vineyard with organic methods. We work mostly with autochthonous varieties like Trepat and Macabeu. We also use spontaneous fermentation to maintain the most characteristics of our land.
In Josep Foraster property, we cultivate vineyard and olive since 1828, the first expansion was done by Ramon Maria Foraster (1893-1956) at the beggining of XX century. During Spanish Civil War a important part of the property was lost. Some years later Ramon Maria’s son, Josep Foraster Roselló (1923- 2015) recoverd a big part of the property and started a farming explotation (cow, pig,and chiken). During this period most of the grape was selled to Montblanc’s wine cooperative. |
El hijo de Josep Foraster Rosello,también llamado Josep Foraster (1960 - 1999) idea la reforma en bodega e inicia la elaboración del primer vino en el año 1998. Josep Foraster muere desgraciadamente el año 1999. Josep Foraster Rosello’s son, also called Josep Foraster (1960 - 1999) begins a progect of reconversion to winemaking, and elavorates the first wine in 1998. Unfurtunately, he died in 1999. Since this moment Julieta Foraster (1953) decides to continue with the project that his brother begun, along with his husband Josep Lluis. |
Julieta’s son, Ricard Sebastià Foraster studies oenology and takes charge of the cellar since 2005, from this moment beguns the organic agriculture and the seeking of old vineyards to elaborate wines with minimum intervention. Special mentions to:
